art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

Gert and Uwe Tobias are the rising stars of contemporary graphic art. The Romania born twin brothers (*1973) are currently living and working in Cologne, Germany. During their studies they already had their first solo exhibitions, followed by various shows throughout Germany, Europe and the United States. The Tobias brothers are highly rewarded.
Since completing their studies, Gert & Uwe Tobias have been collaborating in drawings, ceramics, and woodcuts. Their artworks are assembled into overall installations, often held together by coloured walls and spatial interventions, which are not only associated externally but also in motif.
In each of their media the brothers explore the creatures of surreal imagination and fantasy. Mostly these figures have, although close to humankind, distanced themselves from humanity.
Gert & Uwe Tobias take folkloristic motifs from collective societal structures, memories and traditions. They can be inspired by their mother's knitting patterns - domesticated motifs, which the two transfer to their woodcuts and typewriter drawings.
For the first time, this publication features Gert and Uwe Tobias' drawings which display lush, vivid color and strong graphic compositions.
