art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

„Gert and Uwe Tobias are without a doubt the most interesting representatives of contemporary graphic art, a field of which one would have hardly dared speak a short time ago. Yet these twins born in Brasov, Romania, in 1973 have revived the woodcut as an art that is just as traditional as it is innovative, so the Kunstmuseum Bonn and the Kunstverein Heilbronn habe decided to organize the first solo exhibitions by the artists in museums in Germany.
Following two earlier artist's books, which presented works on paper, drawings, and collages as well as other aspects of their work, this publication, which has been prepared on the occasion of this cooperation, is the first art historical monograph on the work of Gert and Uwe Tobias. At the same time, it documents some of the solo exhibitions that have been arranged by and with the artists thus far. In this way, the reader is presented with a central aspect of their approach, which is not simply limited to their already diverse production of images but also thinks in terms of spaces.
This book documents the exhibitions by illustrating the posters that Gert und Uwe Tobias produce as works of art for every solo exhibition, which also brings together the realms of art and publicity work, which these days are moving ever further apart.“
