art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

The book presents a new installation work created especially for the MCA by Katharina Fritsch, one of the most prominent artists to emerge from Germany during the past 20 years. Although she works in a variety of media, Fritsch is best known for her meticulously crafted sculptures that are inspired as much by mass culture items as by high art sources. Fritsch’s evocative and mysterious sculptures have been described as “apparitions” because of their enigmatic presence.
Her exhibition consists of thousands of small, identical shafts of wheat composed to form an enormous golden field in the gallery, creating an environment that relates to both landscape and minimalist sculpture.
