art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

This book celebrates the 100th birthday of the artist Wolfgang Otto Schulze (1913–1951), who, under the pseudonym Wols, created an oeuvre of revolutionary singularity and beauty. Fantastical photographs, drawings and paintings, in some cases in virtually miniature formats, develop a mysterious cosmos characterized by poetic and abysmal aesthetics. The volume traces the brief life of this universal artist from Dresden to Paris. Accompanied by handwritten letters, notes and historical catalogues, the book presents both the oeuvre and the personal circumstances of the artist between the years 1933 and 1951.
