art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

This catalogue, which has been designed in close collaboration with Jan Fabre, presents the five pieces shown at the Kunsthaus Bregenz, which come together as sculptural tableaus rich in symbolism and references. The piece follows the form of the human body, beginning with the feet, then the genitals, the stomach, the heart and finally the brain, each tableau filling a whole floor of the building.
In his introduction, Eckhard Schneider broaches the subject of sculptural tableaus and Fabre's execution and interpretation of them in this cryptic gesamtkunstwerk. This impressive installation is presented through numerous foldout panels and large-format photographs.
