art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

In her latest installation, internationally renowned artist Alicja Kwade (* 1979), originally from Katowice, Poland, explores the proof of the Earth’s rotation developed by French physicist Léon Foucault (1819–1868) and continues the experiment in a new way.
This volume illustrates this interplay of space and time through recent photographs taken in the Schirn’s rotunda. A motor mounted at the center of the rotunda’s ceiling moves a stone suspended by a chain and a large, double-sided analog clock. Accompanied by the steady ticking of the clock, both objects rotate at a constant speed around the central axis of the cylindrical space and are continuously reflected in the building’s window facade, which is clad in mirrored film.
Through this endless multiplication and duplication, the rotunda loses its spatial boundaries, giving rise to an infinite number of parallel universes. In this all-encompassing circular motion, the human being is, as it were, completely integrated into a specific cosmos.
