Raoul Hausmann fought convention all his life. Radically resolved to be "unscrupulously honest" in both art and life, the Dadaist was a multimedia activist of the first hour and a sharp-tongued critic of society. Raoul Hausmann (1886-1971) was an exceptionally innovative avant-garde artist. He co-invented collage, explored body, words, and space in early happenings, merged the visual with the haptic, and translated sound into images.
