art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

Helmut Newton’s audacious comment on 1980s consumerism
Hand-crafted in Italy from smooth microfiber, with super-soft linen linings of various vibrant colors, leather tags, and inner zip pockets, these versatile notecases combine form with function. Through a striking selection of designs, we bring color and character to every case.
This shot – captured by the prolific and hugely imitated German-Australian photographer, Helmut Newton – is typical of his provocative and edgy style, which was so in demand on the fashion scene in the 1960s and 1970s. Instantly attention-grabbing and called simply Fat Hand and Dollars, Monte Carlo, 1984, it is a remarkable photograph in terms of how it shows so little but says so much about the all-consuming materialism of the 1980s. But even without knowing the background to the image, the brilliance of this design makes for a memorable case.
