art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

Herbert Brandl is an outstanding painter. His oeuvre is also a clear statement about the present.
There is no dearth of reasons to present a large solo exhibition of Herbert Brandl‘s paintig at the Deichtorhallen Hamburg and a modern book full of bright pictures two years after his international success in the Austrian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 2007. Herbert Brandl took an unusual approach to the challenge of presenting his paintings in a mise-en-scène that fills the space of the large Deichtorhalle.
In the center of the exhibition stands the painting »Untitled«, 2007, which in Venice was hung outdoors in the courtyard of the Austrian Pavilion, with nothing to protect it against sun, rain, and changes in temperature.
