art book cologne, founded by Bernd Detsch in 1997, is a wholesale company and specializes in buying and selling high quality publications in art, art theory, architecture, design, photography, illustrated cultural history and all related subjects internationally. Our team includes specialists in art, culture, music, book trade and media but in spite of our diversity we have one common ground: the enthusiasm for unique art books.
We purchase remaining stocks from museums, publishers and art institutions. We sell these remainders to bookstores, museum shops, and art dealers all over the world.

Like no other artist, Franz Marc (1880–1916) is considered an ambassador of the modern period. His images of animals, which have become part of collective memory, stand for the dawn of a new era in art. The seemingly idyllic quality of his colorful paintings served to ease access to the new language of color and form, clearing the way towards acceptance of abstraction and deformation in the understanding of art in the post-war period. The great popularity of Marc and fascination for his art continues until today.
Commemorating the centenary of the artist’s death this notebook presents illustrations of the famous postcards from Franz Marc to Else Lasker-Schüler.
